It’s Complicated is an ever-growing archive of real life, real time anonymous confessions of love and relationships.

It is a participatory storytelling project by artist, Philippa Found.

It’s Complicated evolved from the participatory project Lockdown Love Stories by Philippa Found, which comprised of 1,500 true stories submitted anonymously by members of the public and featured on the BBC, ITV, The New Yorker, Grazia, Stylist, Mail Online, Independent, and was exhibited on the London transport network and a multi-site exhibition across the London High Street.

It’s Complicated continues the project out of lockdown.

It’s Complicated is a true story created collectively. An anonymous confesional space.

It’s Complicated is an artwork, but its contents may bear other artworks, an exhibition, a publication, performances…

It’s Complicated is an opportunity to contribute to a collective narrative. To record your story. To share without shame. To normalise the reality of love and relationships.

It’s Complicated is honest, messy, and real. It is a counter to the glossy highlights we share and are exposed to on social media.

It’s complicated seeks to platform anonymous true stories to collectively present a more naunced portrait of love and relationships, to normalise this reality and counter shame.

It’s Complicated is also the title of the book of selected stories from Lockdown Love Stories, published by Pavillion/Harper Collins Publishing on 30th January 2025 which you can order here.

Hearing other people’s stories makes us feel less alone. Sharing our stories makes us feel more connected.
